Vampire Application

General questions:

1. What comes to your mind when the word vampire arises? What is a vampire in a human view and what is it from a vampire's own view? How different are standard folklore and World of Darkness vampires? Caine's curse had to spread around eventually. The three agents of God, angels, gave Caine a chance to repent for the murder of Abel. Caine, thinking he killed Abel in an act of love when it was really an act of hate, rejected all three angels, and for that, he gained three curses. He and his children are cursed with a weakness to fire, vulnerability to sunlight and the Beast Within that hunger for blood. After the experience, Caine becomes officially "Awakened", gaining possession of the Disciplines. What comes to my mind when the word vampire arises? Exactly that. A curse... passed on Caine, that he passed to his childer. The bloodlust, the sun harm and the fear of fire. All vampires suffer this, just because Caine killed his brother "out of love", definitely not out of hate.

Humans see vampires as predators. Vampires see them as prey. But who is right here? They both want to survive this dark world. So... morality between these two beings, is an illusion. No one is right, yet no one is wrong. They all seek survival, and the fittest will do just that.

Standard folklore see vampires as beings that have many flaws, such as having to ask to enter someone's property, a weakness to garlic, a weakness to water, no reflection, while WOD vampires have none of these (unless they take the flaws). That isn't the only difference, however. Folklore vampires don't have clans, sects and such, while WOD is more complex in that topic which makes it more fun. Torpor, blood points, specific clan weaknesses, many, many things are different between standard folklore and WOD vampires.

2. What kind of consequences could possibly arise were a vampire be outed to the general public? What sort of action would be taken by various governments and the people? For this reason, do you think vampires should take the chance of coming out clean or should they rather stay hidden? Assuming the Masquerade has fallen, and the world does not spiral off into an "I Am Legend" apocalypse, there would be legal issues to settle regarding vampires. Many things would change in the human society, and there are many ways it could go. Maybe they would exterminate the vampire, killing him and probably looking for clues if there are any more of his kind. Maybe it would spread around really quickly to the whole world, where countries would use them as war machines. Maybe they would do experiments on them to see how they came to their supernatural state and make the vampire a test subject till eternity. Maybe the information about a vampiric creature existing would spread to the whooole society, creating many many changes in the way humans live, sleep and think. It's likely that any country that allowed the full integration of vampires in society would attract vampires as shelter-seekers from those that don't. Having vampires around carries many risks, but it also promises major benefits. Immortality is just the tip of the iceberg. Militaries would become ghoul armies, a handful of Thaumaturges and illusion makers, and all the other very useful disciplines.

All in all... Every outcome would be bad for the vampire society. They should stay hidden forever and ever. I doubt any vampire would like to be a slave to government and human society.

3. What are The Traditions? Who enforces them and how do the vampires view it? The Traditions are the fundamental laws of Kindred society, supposedly handed down by Caine himself.

First Tradition: The Masquerade
-Thou shall not reveal thy true nature to those not of the Blood. Doing such shall renounce thy claims of Blood."

Basically, vampires should stay hidden from human society, hiding their true nature so they don't meet the consequences. Sects such as the Camarilla hold this rule dearly, punishing vampires who break it greatly.

Second Tradition: The Domain
-"Thy domain is thine own concern. All others owe thee respect while in it. None may challenge thy word while in thy domain."

Who owns the Domain, owns the rules. Others must follow it. No questions about it. Those who don't... meet the consequences.

Third Tradition: The Progeny
-"Thou shall only Sire another with the permission of thine Elder. If thou creates another without thine Elder's leave, both thou and thy Progeny shall be slain."

If you sire a childe without informing the Elder, or the prince, both you and the childe shall be slain.

Fourth Tradition: The Accounting
-"Those thou create are thine own children. Until thy Progeny shall be Released, thou shall command them in all things. Their sins are thine to endure."

If you talked with the Elder, and he allowed you to sire a childe, until that childe is released, it is your responsibility on what he does.

Fifth Tradition: The Hospitality
-"Honor one another's domain.
When thou comest to a foreign city, thou shall present thyself to the one who ruleth there.
Without the word of acceptance, thou art nothing.
"

Honor the domains of others, and present oneself to the ruler of any domain you visit.

Sixth Tradition: The Destruction
-Thou art is forbidden to destroy another of thy kind. The right of destruction belongeth only to thine Elder. Only the Eldest among thee shall call the Blood Hunt.

The right to kill Kindred is reserved for the Elder of a community. Only an elder may call a Blood Hunt.

4. What is a Clan? The ancient tale says that Caine only had three childer.  Zillah, Irad and Enoch. Zillah, the woman who Caine fell in love with, and whom secretly gave her his blood, so she was blood bound to him and so she could fall in love with him as well. Irad, a strong and brave leader who sought to purge himself of all evil. Enoch, king of the First City or City of Enoch, begged Caine to make him his childe, and then worshiped Caine like the rest of his city.

These three created the Antediluvians. The third generation. The third generation is what made all the clan characteristics specific. All came from those three wise people who had the luck (or unluck) to become Caine's childer.

A clan is a term to describe the major groups of Caine's blood, who share identical characteristics that were passed by blood. There are 13 known clans tonight.

-Clan Assamite
-Clan Brujah
-Followers of Set
-Clan Gangrel
-Clan Giovanni
-Clan Lasombra
-Clan Malkavian
-Clan Nosferatu
-Clan Ravnos
-Clan Toreador
-Clan Tremere
-Clan Tzimisce
-Clan Ventrue

5. What is a Bloodline? Bloodline is a term to group of vampires that share the same lineage. They are similar to clans, yet not quite there, they don't have to be bound to some clan fully. There are a couple of ways on how bloodlines are made:

- A flawed embrace, for whatever reason, the childe doesn't inherit the sire's clan, becoming something else instead. Perhaps the sire diablerized someone recently, mixing it up. Or maybe some other reasons are in question... no one knows.

-Mystical methods, perhaps a ritual was made with magic taking place, and thus the bloodline was created.

-Evolution, a bloodline splits off from the clan when they are geographically isolated from the parent clan and develop their own customs.

-Diablerie of an Antediluvian, even the name says it all, that Antediluvian has been replaced, resulting in the original clan being "demoted" to bloodline status.

- Independent origin, some bloodlines claim no connection with the clans, having arisen independently through encounters with supernatural consequences, creatures and such...

6. What sort of process is an embrace? What's diablerie? Why are both of these practices so commonly heard about? What's the view on these two? Ubar. The place where Caine finally settled in. The king at the time, Enoch, relinquished his throne so that Caine could rule it. But, he didn't do this for free. Enoch desired power. Enoch desired the Embrace. Caine kept refusing the offer, yet the raging of the Beast within, the yearning to be with others like him, and Enoch ultimately begging for it, Caine turned the young man. That was the first Embrace in the world. The act where a vampire transforms a mortal into a kindred. Out of loneliness, a need for a pawn, regret at an accidental feeding, a vampire picks a mortal he finds interesting or useful, drinks him up dry and leaves some vitae of his own. That is when the rebirth happens. The rebirth is what makes the neonate feel very ecstatic. They say rebirth and drinking blood for the first time cannot be compared, the rebirth is a much, much better feeling. With no experience with "the beast" and with the raw hunger after the embrace, the neonate frenzies on the first sight of blood. The neonate is now one higher generation and is either the same clan or caitiff.

Amarantha, the first victim of the foul deed. Diablerie is a term used for the act of drinking another Cainite's blood and drawing their soul into one's own. Diablerizing the soul of a Cainite of significant age is one of the few ways of lowering one's generation, for if the victim possessed more potent blood then the diablerist's, the diablerist's Generation drops by one, possibly more if the victim was of notably lower Generation. The diablerist must drink the blood to the point of final death. Basically drinking till ashes start filling your mouth. Sects like the Camarilla forbid this foul deed and punish it with final death. But the majority of the Sabbat and Assamites consider it acceptable, one of the reasons both groups are viewed with such fear and disgust.

7. What are the vampire generations? How far do they stray from the original? What are these generations? Does generation measurement exist within the society? Generation explains how far the vampire is from Caine. Of course, the lower and the closer to Caine the generation is, the stronger it is. Lower generations have the many benefits such as... dominate cannot be used on vampires of a lower generation than the character, and some other disciplines are weaker as well. The number of blood points a Cainite can spend in a turn and the maximum size of their blood pool also increases as generation is lowered. In the society, measurement exists, however they don't know exactly what generation they are. They measure it by age. The older the vampire is, the lower his generation is. At least that's what they think.

Caine, considered as the first generation and the most powerful vampire.

Second Generation, the three childer of Caine, probably met their end in the Great Flood, but they are the ones who created the 13 antediluvians.

Third Generation, the creators of the 13 known clans, most in torpor/final death.

Fourth and Fifth Generation, known as Methuselahs, the vampires of the fourth and fifth generations are almost as powerful as their sires. Although old, some escaped the call of lasting torpor, however, most are in the state of it.

Sixth and Seventh Generation, many of these are still elders in the society. Many have survived and made their childer. While few Cainites ever cross paths with a fourth generation vampire, most encounter the self-styled lords of the sixth and seventh generations. (0 - 1300 AD)

Eight and Ninth Generation, achieving a delicate balance between age and generation, these vampires are the most visible ones of the 14th century. Although they are young, the blood of Caine flows strongly through their veins.

Tenth and Eleventh Generation, while they are comparatively young, most vampires created within the last few centuries belong to the tenth and eleventh generation. The blood of Caine still flows through them, but they have only recently overthrown the shackles of their sires and become powers in their own right.

Twelfth and Thirteenth Generation, fledgling and neonates, these vampires are separated by blood and millennia from Caine. Nonetheless, all are powerful creatures by virtue of their damned nature.

8. What are the two notable Anarch Revolts? What sort of effect did they have upon the vampires? The two anarch revolts refer to the instance where a large number of young vampires kill or diablerize the elders, either from the desire to gain power or to end the manipulation of the elders to other, younger Cainite.

Anarch Revolt of the 15th Century, it spurred in the day of the Inquisition. Neonates were angered by the Elders because they kept sacrificing younglings to the Inquisitors. A Brujah voice on the Ventrue council expressed that the elders must stand up and fight against the mortal humans. However, they felt it was better to hide and masquerade and form rules that would later be known as Camarilla. The Brujah left the council and joined with the rebellious neonates. And that is where it all started. After the many fights in the revolt, in the end... the lack of organization, internal rivalries, poor communication, and the greater resources possessed by the elders, prevented the anarchs from making any large gains. The war devolved into a series of skirmishes, starting in Spain. As word spread throughout Europe, however, all the clans began considering the heretofore impossible notion of younger Cainites banding together against their elders.

Anarch Revolt of the 20th Century, despite the formation of the Camarilla and the Sabbat, self-proclaimed anarchs would continue in isolated groups. Many of the remaining anarchs made their way to the United States and from there to the West Coast. As Los Angeles quickly increased in prominence the Camarilla established Don Sebastian as the prince with the hope that he would curb the growing number of anarchs in the region. He largely ignored their presence, however, in 1944 he realized the full extent of the discontent in his city and ordered the savage beating of one such luminary, Jeremy MacNeil. Instead of instantly rebelling, MacNeil leads the anarchs in locating and studying the havens of the local Elders over a period of six weeks, and on December 21, 1944, the Second Anarch Revolt began. The prince was killed and those Elders that were not destroyed fled the city, making it a strong victory for the anarch movement.

Character Story:(Min. 300 words; Max. 3000) Ah... sweet, sweeeeet vitae, but then, the pleasure of vitae turned to something else. Blood that used to be of my own descent is now satisfying me. Never imagined I'd become one of these beings. Never... I actually thought I'd be drinking vampire blood till the rest of my life, didn't imagine getting an unlife. I miss them though... both Shayara and Richard. Shayara recently arrived back in Red County, though how will she react to my... state of nature. I don't want to disappoint her. Anyway, let's go back to the beginning, shall we?

Mother, Ana, and father, Johan Smith, they gave me a name of Serbian descent, but the american last name from the father stood with me. Nothing to say about my childhood... just a normal life with normal parents, and friends. I was a normie. Not for long. Around the age of 20, my life changed forever. That one night I'll always remember. The night I met Shayara. A starry night, filled with stars all around the sky. The moon was shining on us both. I looked at her car, and noticed her, I didn't think much of her back then, but later even though she wasn't that attractive, something about her made her be that way, special. She approached me, where we talked about life. Talked about everything. She took me to the alleyways, the dirty smelly alleyway. In there, behind the wall, we talked a bit more, where she told me "I always like a good story before a nice meal." My pupils started narrowing down, but just before I could say anything... I felt the ecstasy of "The Kiss". She slowly let me lay on the ground, licking my bitemark, and when she finished, she left. I... looked for her the other day. To explain what she meant by meal. To explain everything. I finally found her. We went on without usual "life talk", and I knew something was up. She wanted something from me, to extract information about myself, about my qualities. I told her that manipulation is my second name. She widened her eyes as if an idea popped up in her head. Slowly but surely, I became her ghoul. My goal was to infiltrate the "Militia of Red County", find out more about them and if they have any supernatural members in there. I was her retainer for around 4 to 5 months. Perhaps even more... Until... she left town. I was devastated. All the memories came back. Martial Arts classes with Orochi, and the many tasks. Oh, and the feedings, who can forget that? After she left, I was devastated. What to do, who to feed on? I left town for a few months. The only thing on my mind was Shayara and vitae. I went into an alley in one of the towns I was passing by... and I saw a vampire sucking blood out of someone. Probably a neonate. I went blank and attacked it for blood. I drained so much from him that... I puked almost all of it out. I felt my lungs and stomach hurt from all the coughing and puking. Eventually, someone showed up right in front of my legs. He appeared out of nothing. Richard Flaming. An elder setite... he decided to take me in because he heard about my experience as a retainer and many other things. There he taught me the discipline of Celerity, and I was not his ghoul for a long period of time (considering how many years ghouls serve their masters). He regretted taking me. My experience didn't live up to his expectations. But, he decided that he shall not just abandon me, no. Punishment was required. So one night... I was guarding his house, as usual. He was supposedly going to be out of town for 3 days. On the 2nd day, when there was a new moon high above the sky, he brought a friend of his along with, a friend supposedly. An ancillae brujah. I lit up a cigarette, hearing the tobacco and paper burn as I drag smoke into my mouth, exhaling it out. I hear the brujah's shaky voice behind me say something. "C-come inside with us, w-we n-need you". I look at Richard, who just nods. I enter the house along with them as they both grapple me out of a sudden. The brujah then sucks all of my blood, putting some of his own vitae. This was my punishment. A sire-less unlife. After I woke up, I felt the rebirth ecstasy. They say rebirth feels better than any drug in the world, and I can confirm it. I slowly open my eyes as I see a hole in the brujah's chest. Richard was holding the Ancillae's heart, he put it in an urn. The brujah was tied up to a chair, he would cry if he could. His mercy was sold to Richard.
"You shall not see this boy as a childe. You shall not talk to him, nor make any contact with him. That's his punishment, a sireless unlife.", said, Richard.
"You will be a way better slave than this little fledgling".

That is how I came to my unlife. Punishment for not being reliable enough, after making a promise. I hope I don't see Richard any time in my unlife. Maybe he will come tomorrow for me. Maybe in 20 years. I don't know... All I know is that I have to survive. Survival is key, and I'll do anything to "stay alive".

Wish. Me. luck.

Out of Character:

1.What kind of powers are you allowed to use in public? What stops you from using them? Anything invisible to the human eye can be used. Actually, you can use every discipline in public. But if someone sees you or finds out you did it, you are in big trouble. The thing that stops you from using them in public is the masquerade. Doesn't matter if you are Sabbat, the Camarilla takes you in count as well. As for what is considered usable in public, that would be probably disciplines that trick the mind, or disciplines that are physical, but invisible. A good example of physical but invisible powers would be Potence and Fortitude. You can use it to deal blunt damage to someone, however bashing your hand through their heart and ripping it out would be... troubling. Fortitude is literally invisible unless a 100 bullets bounce off of your skin, which is kind of impossible. As for mental disciplines such as Dominate, Presence, Auspex and such, you can use them. Just don't go around screaming that you heard what that guy whispered IC, or don't tell your victim you've entranced them, no vampire would do that as a character in WOD.

2.Someone has discovered you. He's planning on making a statement within a week, you have all the time to prepare. What do you do? Consider consequences of every sort of action. Putting down more than one option increases your chances of getting accepted. First option, and the most important one is to erase his memory and replace it with some other. You can either do it yourself or find a kindred to help you out and do that for you. That way everything is avoided, he has no memory, he didn't see you move insanely fast with Celerity, he was having a drink at the bar with his friends John and Richard, he drank moonshine that had a shitty taste, he watched some TV in the bar and then went home and fell asleep.

The second option would be, if the first one is for some odd reason not able to be done, to ghoulify or embrace the poor soul. I know, I know, this sounds like a bad option, but if you see yourself finding a use of this person, might as well do it now. That way the blood-bind or embrace will fuck up his brain, and you won't be in trouble anymore.

The third option is to simply kill the man for threatening to break the masquerade for you and cause you trouble, consequences, and regret. Nothing more to that, just simple stabby in the gutty. No one makes a statement on my ass. This option, however, would be rarely chosen, because there are other ways to fix the mistake without dirtying your hands.

3.An officer walks up to you and tells you to stay put, you are a wanted individual. In the struggle you both shed a good amount of blood, what could possibly happen in this scenario and how further can you avoid these dangerous encounters? The best option here is to make him unconscious, wait for him to wake up and replace the memories. If he is tough as nails, and just cannot go unconscious, still fighting you to the death, you gotta kill him. Maybe feed along the way, drink the blood you spent back. But, the best option is to make him unconscious.

Again... you could ghoulify the man, after making him unconscious, if you find any use of him of course. If you are a short-fused, stubborn guy, maybe an embrace as punishment for messing with the wrong dude/chick.

4.You mutter around town and notice a rather viscous looking hairy beast with claws stretching out of his arms. What could it possibly be and what could you possibly do about this? Probably a lupine, or maybe a frenzying gangrel. In both cases, you are quite probably fucked. Gotta run or in worst case fight the beast. However... unless you are an elder with experience and a lot of disciplines, you probably don't stand a chance. A lupine is walking flesh and claw, and if it is in that form stretching out his arm, they probably kill on sight. Get out of there quick!

5.You've been at the game for quite a while now. You are walking down a dark alley with your partner and three thugs come out of the shadowy corner, aiming their mundane weaponry at you. Should you be scared? Not scared, unless I read their aura reflexively and see a magi or a lupine, perhaps even a vampire. But, my partner and I won't be escaping without a good fight. That is why every vampire should know at least one physical discipline. Fighting them till they are unconscious, of course. I'm not gonna stare at them while they deal damage to me, right? Well, after that they deserve to have their blood drank. Unless you crippled them, you can freely drink from them. Not to death of course, but till you think you are free to go. If they are something supernatural, however, you should either fight or flight. Both are good options on their own, depending on what you are fighting.

6.Considering your bloodline or clan, what sort of job would you be good at? Make a priority job and a side job in case you need one. Ognjen is loyal considering his ghoul experience. He'd make a great bodyguard, considering his clan as well, both experience and clan. Other than that, he'd be good at physically demanding jobs, such as construction work etc. Owning a firearm liscense is a big bonus as well to that, considering that it opens many branches of jobs along the way.

Player information:

1.For how long have you been playing on Vampires, Werewolves and Humans roleplay? Around 10-11 months I'd say.

2.Make a list of your current and past characters. Ognjen_Smith, Ron_Southwark, Robby_Smith, August_Walker, Johnny_Gamble, Dante_Ainsworth, Abby_Woods and Elijah_Watson.

3.Do you understand that by taking part of this race, you can be changed by the race moderators (or even admins) for the most simple reasons? If you are to apply and get accepted, you are to follow the race rules to the fullest extent and upon reaching zero masquerade points, lose your character. Have you read all of this and understood what's your part? Yes, I did.

4.Post a screenshot (embedded with code, no links) of your admin record and activity (include each personal account): https://imgur.com/a/NR4ZNuc

5.If there is anything you would improve/change regarding the vampire race, what would it be?Nothing at the moment.

((tell me if nostalgia hits raven, ( ͡ ͜ʖ ͡). ))

3. Essay

3.1 Tell us some things about yourself (150 words min):
Throughout my entire life, I've always grown up with a family who revered and supported local law enforcement, particularly my uncle who served in the LSPD for over thirteen years now. My uncle used to take me on a few ride alongs when I was a teenager, and I enjoyed riding around with him and watching him do his daily business, despite how dirty or uncouth it may have seemed. I would be lying if I said it wasn't an adrenaline rush to be in situations like those, but I know I can control myself. I've also worked as an intern at the station my uncle worked at during high school, though it was mostly fetching coffee and just being around with an eye kept on me. Despite this, becoming a police officer never seemed like a career choice for me, as my parents have always pushed me to do something big in the world, like be the next Steve Jobs or Kim Jong Un. Despite being led astray from what I now see as my true calling, I do believe that it's what I've been working my entire life towards, even if I didn't know it at the time. The San Andreas County Sheriff's Department provides a stable environment in a nice area with good people, and it's more of a talk-things-out sort of job compared to more rigorous and potentially more violent inner-city policing, though I'm sure I will get accustomed to the sort of gang violence that's normal in the county if I am accepted into the training academy and successfully pass. I capable of exerting myself physically and mentally at all times. I run regularly and am engaged in numerous extracurriculars that further my physical and mental capability. I took classes in Krav Maga self-defense starting in high school, and I've only recently ended my peerage.

3.2 Why should we pick you instead of the other applicants (150 words min):
My personality is reserved, but I open up to those I consider friends. I focus heavily on intellectual pursuits, such as hobby programming and reading. I am a calm person and generally let things be if they don't affect me too badly, but I'm not afraid to raise my deeper voice to command authority when I require it. I'm highly skilled in multiple technical fields, and I can keep a calm and cool head when situations may prove tense. My time in Model UN classes also helped me learn people and diplomatic skills that I believe can help tremendously. serving the county and surrounding towns to the best of my ability, and to prevent and stop crime at the source while providing a safe home for everyone living in the county. A valued Deputy Sheriff is one who is devoted to the law, his or her country, and their superior, in that order. One who isn't afraid to put their life on to protect the citizens of this country, or to apprehend wanted criminals.

3.3 How do you imagine yourself after one year in the department (100 words min):
I wish to further myself as a person, and most importantly, as a peace officer. I truly wish to do good in this world, and I believe every potential encounter with law enforcement can skew someone's opinion either way, and I hope to make them think highly of the Sheriff's Department. as someone who serves the public as a sheriff deputy within the department and does his best each day to give the community the best service, a cop could offer. I am looking for to become a higher rank eventually but until the time comes I will do my best to impress and serve.
