Today, the Department of Justice along with the FBI have made a statement today disavowing the Red County section of the FBI, describing them as "no better than the criminals they face". The Red County Sheriff's Department reported an incident to the Department of Justice where Red County FBI agents had engaged Sheriff Deputies in combat, while no one was killed, the Sheriff's Department considers this a grave betrayal of trust. Director of the FBI's San Andreas office, Adrian Navarro commented:
"This has left the FBI across the nation with its reputation stained, the idea that FBI agents would perform such acts against fellow law enforcement agents seems unfathomable, we have no idea of the motives that drove the former agents to do this, but once we had heard of these events taking place, we knew we couldn't keep that office functional, lest we be humiliated even further and the public lose trust in the FBI."
The Department of Justice has ordered the agents in Red County to cease and desist operations and allowed the Sheriff's Department to act against those who continue to identify themselves as FBI in Red County for the foreseeable future.
