Vampire Application

General questions:

1. What comes to your mind when the word vampire arises? What is a vampire in a human view and what is it from a vampire's own view? How different are standard folklore and World of Darkness vampires?

Whenever I hear the word "vampire", I usually think about bloodsucking monsters who lurk in the darkness and walk amongst us. That was before I read what White Wolf Publishing had in their minds. After reading and understanding Vampire the Masquerade, created by White Wolf Publishing, all of my thoughts about vampire before were revised. After reading the VtM book, I now think of pale, bloodsucking spawns of Caine from different clans and bloodlines with their own powerful Disciplines or abilities who follow a set of rules, the Traditions, to keep their existence.

A vampire in another vampire's own view depends on them. A territorial vampire may view another vampire who resides in his "claimed" territory an enemy and should leave immediately, while a monstrous and greedy vampire may find his kind an enemy, hoping to be the only vampire world-wide. An optimistic vampire may find men of his kind a brother from the same father, Caine, and a vampire may find men of his kind strangers and would act violently when slightly pissed.

If a vampire may find one of his kind a friendly, humans have their own opinions, and its hostile. Humanity in the modern age tend to be overprotective and would kill anything or anyone they don't know. If they see an alien from outer space, they'd assume it's here to initiate war and it would be brought up to NASA for questioning then possibly killed after. The elders of the Kindred society know about this fully well hence why they think its important to uphold and obey the Masquerade.

Folklore vampires are different from World of Darkness vampires in numerous features. Folklore vampires may have a weakness on garlic, running water, and holy symbols, while most World of Darkness vampires can resist these unless cursed. Folklore vampires die when staked to the heart, while World of Darkness vampires suffer complete paralysis when staked to the heart. Folklore vampires rest in their coffins and wait for the moon to rise and the sun to set to wake up, while World of Darkness vampires aren't that weird and would usually hide in their havens where the sun's rays won't hit them. A good example of a haven would be a dark cave or a basement. Folklore vampires act normally with fire(only Frankenstein goes crazy with it), while World of Darkness vampires frenzy on the sight of fire(that is if they fail to control the Beast within). With all these differences, folklore and World of Darkness vampires have a lot in common. Their weakness is the sun, they look pale(Assamites are an exception, wherein their skin grows darker as they age) and feel cold, they have supernatural powers, one includes commanding through eye-contact and quick speed and reflexes.

2. What kind of consequences could possibly arise were a vampire be outed to the general public? What sort of action would be taken by various governments and the people? For this reason, do you think vampires should take the chance of coming out clean or should they rather stay hidden?

In my opinion, the consequences of this scenario would be very dire such as the extinction of the race or even the horrific destiny of Gehenna each and every vampire fear to happen. If the government gets news about the existence of our race, they won't hesitate to drive us away just to create a safe environment for the city. If they don't, citizens would leave the city. It would be a ghost town and vampires have no more food. Vampires must always know that the population of humans are always greater than the population of Kindreds (( not in this server, though )). If the people would hear news about this, it's most likely they'll help the government drive them out or worse, start an anarchy that would make them distrust everyone except for themselves which would end up in humans killing other humans, and vampires may even perish through this. So in conclusion, I am a hundred percent go on upholding and obeying the Traditions.

3. What are The Traditions? Who enforces them and how do the vampires view it?

The Traditions are the set of rules for Kindred society that was supposedly made to preserve the existence of vampires. These Traditions are so strictly enforced by the Camarilla that should anyone plan on breaking a single rule, he should face Death immediately. The Traditions are important aspects that shaped the Kindred history and psychology. History in a way that the founding of the Anarch Society happened because a Brujah stood up for the helpless neonates and psychology in a way that they are one of the causes of the start of the longest war in kindred society: the Jyhad.

Different personalities of different vampires from different sects have different opinions on the different Traditions. Sabbat members are the more monstrous vampires who reject the Traditions and favor power more than their own existence. On the other hand, Camarilla vampires aren't technically the "good guys" but they are the ones loyal to the Traditions and obey them to preserve the race's existence. Anarchs may be rebels, but they still respect and uphold the Traditions. They just don't like the elders managing it.

4. What is a Clan?

A clan is a vampire's lineage or some sort of "family". A vampire who shares the same clan of another vampire shares the same blood and respect the same antediluvian. There are 13 clans that divides the Kindred society, and these clans were founded by an Antediluvian from the third generation. When a vampire embraces someone, his childe receives the same clan he is in.

Each clan has a set of 3 different Disciplines. These Disciplines may be common ones like a Ventrue who has Dominate, Fortitude, and Presence. These three disciplines are common to other clans as they have it too. Although there are other clans who knows Disciplines no other clan know like a Tremere who has the Disciplines of Auspex, Dominate, and the unique Discipline of blood magic which is Thaumaturgy. These "rare Disciplines" are the Disciplines they try hard to keep secret.

5. What is a Bloodline?

Bloodlines are just like Clans, it is a vampire's lineage. They only differ in ways such as how some don't have an Antediluvian to start with, some were just experiments, some were antitribus of their own clan, while some were flawed during their Embrace. There are numerous bloodlines in the Classic World of Darkness.

6. What sort of process is an embrace? What's diablerie? Why are both of these practices so commonly heard about? What's the view on these two?

The Embrace is a process of "reproduction" for vampires. It is done by draining a mortal's blood till it's empty and replacing it with a drop or two of the vampire's own. With this, a new vampire is created. When one Embraces, her childe is always a generation(see below) higher than her sire's.  For example, a ninth generation Embraces a mortal, she (the victim) would be a vampire of the 10th generation. Different clans and bloodlines have different ways, practices, and choices when Embracing a childe.

Diablerie, or Amaranth for old-school vampires, is the process of consuming the blood of a vampire till its last drop and taking in her soul in the process. This is a very dangerous and horrific, yet beautiful, practice. It is the only way a vampire can become more potent while becoming closer to Caine through blood. This process requires full concentration and even a teeny-tiny distraction could end the process forever. This makes diablerists prone to attack while diablerizing. There are also consequences when committing diablerie like a diablerist being controlled by the soul of her victim and the history and behavior shift of a clan when an Antediluvian is diablerized. For example, Troile, the progenitor of the Brujah clan, diablerized Brujah, the progenitor of the True Brujah clan, and it changed the course of vampire history. Diablerie also leaves black streaks in one's aura. If a Camarilla, a sect who strictly disallows diablerie, member would see these streaks, she would be reported immediately to the authorities where a blood hunt would be directed to the diablerist. Sabbat, on the other hand, encourages this practice, making their neonates stronger and as powerful, preparing them for the coming of Caine.

7. What are the vampire generations? How far do they stray from the original? What are these generations? Does generation measurement exist within the society?

The vampire generation is the unit of measurement to how far a vampire's blood is from Caine, the father of all and the original vampire. Generations are part of the vampire lore, but aren't technically a thing inside the World of Darkness. It's just a measure of how far one is from Caine.

To start it all, Caine is the first generation vampire. His childer, Enoch, Irad, Zillah, and the rest, became the second generation vampires. Their childer, the Antediluvians, became the third generation vampires. The progenitors of the vampire clans and [some] bloodlines. Then came the methuselahs, the fourth and fifth generation vampires, and the elders, the sixth, seventh, eighth, etc. The farthest generation recorded was the sixteenth generation. They, and the eleventh, twelfth, thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth generation vampires, were considered as warnings and symbols of the coming of the Gehenna, the apocalypse for vampires.

8. What are the two notable Anarch Revolts? What sort of effect did they have upon the vampires?

The Anarch Revolts were events that transpired when the younger vampires rebelled against their elders after knowing they were just controlled and manipulated by them.

It all began when elders started sacrificing their young to the Inquisition of Middle Ages. A Brujah who had a voice in the Ventrue Council, Patricia, who then changed her name to Tyler, wanted to stop this and fight the mortals. The Ventrue, as their dedication to upholding the Traditions, especially the Masquerade, objected her, knowing fully well that hiding was better than fighting. The disappointed Patricia left the council and joined a group of Brujah rebels (this was when Patricia changed her name to Tyler). She started a war against the elders in the Hardestadt Castle and was successful. Patricia then proceeded to commit Amaranth on Hardestadt.

The Second Anarch Revolt happened on the last years of World War 2. The revolution of the mortals started its conclusion. The Camarilla authorities made Don Sebastian as Prince in Los Angeles. The Camarilla wanted to improve their area of influence, hoping he'd end the continuous rise of the Anarch members. What Sebastian did was the complete opposite of what he was ordered. He ignored the rising numbers of the Anarch society. When it hit him, it was already too late. They were outnumbered. Sebastian then ordered the immediate execution of Anarch leader Jeremy MacNeil. MacNeil, thinking smart, didn't counterattack the Camarilla immediately. Instead, he and his soldiers studied the havens of the local elders.

On December 21, 1994, the Anarchs declared the start of the Second Anarch Revolution. Sebastian was killed and the surviving elders fled the city. After this revolt, the sects have been planning different ways to conquer Los Angeles, but after the event, they fear of their own death, hence making Los Angeles a Free State.

Spoiler for Story:
1990

A heart-shaped restaurant. Does it even exist? How does that look like? Architect Blaine spent all day trying to figure out how a heart-shaped restaurant looks like. Even a brilliant architect like him couldn't see a possibility of a heart-shaped structure. "I dreamt of building a very tall skyscraper on the grounds of the Manhattan skyline, but here I am, stuck in designing a heart-shaped restaurant." This project was given to him a few weeks ago. Needing a lot of money to support his family of 4, he had a plan to take 2 to 3 projects simultaneously, hoping that they wouldn't be that hard. And by "not that hard", David didn't mean a heart-shaped structure. He already had 2 more unfinished projects on his hand. He was required to do a presentation the day after the next, but David couldn't find his self going anywhere near success on this f*cked up heart-shaped restaurant.

How did this happen? Where did it start? Why did this mess happen in the first place? Well, it started on 1980. 19-year-old David saw the rise of a new popularity: buildings. He thought much on how buildings reflected his life. Strong and sturdy on its first days, weak and vulnerable to destruction on its last. David's youth was an exciting one. He was born into a wealthy family, able to provide him the needs and wants that sprouted from his mouth. Like how most kids from wealthy families, he became what most people call a "spoiled brat". This was to be proven on 1883.

He was still 12 when both of his parents died due to a flooded ship. Although spoiled, he respected his parents. He mourned for their passing and suffered a state of depression so deep that he craved for his death. Then, he met someone that would change his path and vision of life.

For four consecutive years, David has been going in the same library. Although old, he favored it the most among the other nearby libraries for he had a lot of treasured memories. He was well known among the librarians for his loyalty to the library.

1992

One day, on a rainy night around Paxton Library, Maggie, the head librarian told David that the library would be demolished on the next 3 weeks. David felt broken, knowing that all of his past memories he dearly loved so would be nothing but stones.

That night, David continued thinking about ideas on how to stop the demolishing of the library for a couple of hours already. Till finally, he got a plan. David burst out his house and started running towards the library in the middle of the heavy storm, hoping someone would still be there to hear his ideas. When he arrived there, he saw a dim light coming out from the storage room of the library. He tried the door and successfully opened it. He thought the librarians were still expecting visitors or they just forgot to lock the door.  He wanted to make a sound, let the librarians know he was there with an idea, but something just made him shut up and check out what's going on in the storage room.

As he came closer to the room, he could hear voices that were speaking something David couldn't figure out. When he came too close, he noticed that all of the librarians were squatting on the floor, forming a circle. With them were faint flames from candles and different symbols on the floor. Then it hit David. They were doing a ritual. They were clearly chanting a ritual. But a ritual for what? Do those even work? How did they know these?

David continued watching for a few minutes and became tired eventually. He did an attempt to bring a chair by the door without making a noise. He was halfway there when he almost tripped on a wire, creating a loud bang from the fallen chair. David looked at the door of the storage room, only guessing that that loud of a bang would catch their attention. He looked around and found a bookshelf that wasn't leaning on anything and hid behind it as he heard footsteps approaching and Maggie's voice calling out, "Who's there?!" After a few minutes of chairs creaking, tables and shelves making annoying noises as the librarians searched the whole library, it came a dead silence. When David could only guess they were gone, he peaked from behind the shelf and shrieked.

It was Maggie staring at him directly. He wanted to run but someone grabbed him from behind and started dragging him towards Maggie. He started talking to Maggie, but in a different language David didn't know, but it sounded a bit Latin to him. David, creeped out by the group, could only stare at Maggie with a look of a frightened coward who's faced-to-face with Death, himself. He heard her reply to him with the same language. David's previous frightened face eventually became a curious face as they spoke in the same language fluently. Maggie finally looked at David and said, "You're loyalty has been awarded." The man then released David. David ran for his life but Maggie caught up with him and tackled him. He then felt two sharp pairs of objects that sunk in his throat and felt the most ecstatic pleasure so satisfying that it made him wait for Maggie to finish what she was doing, hoping it would never end. He then felt a strong numbness and felt dizzy as he fainted.

He woke up on a different bed in a different house with different people and felt a different and ineffable feeling. Maggie came in the room and smiled at him.

The sun was about to rise. Listening to Maggie's advice of avoiding the sun as he's a different person now, he decided to move to a more dark room with its heavy curtains that blocked the sun's light to reach the interior of the room. Maggie followed him and introduced him to another favor.

Maggie, the Regent of the chantry, offered David a job in exchange for knowledge and teachings. The job was simple for David. Design another library in Montgomery with a more secured room that serves as the chantry. David agreed and worked for it for weeks. Finally, Maggie found the perfect structure. Maggie told David that they would think about it, but in reality, David was just tested for his loyalty and obedience even though this was already shown in his mortal days when he stayed loyal to the librarians and was obedient to them. This was one of the main reasons why Maggie chose him. Maggie brought David to the Inner Council of Seven and introduced him. After then, Maggie went with the deal and started mentoring David in his lores.

1994

Maggie decided to release David from her watch, removing his status as a fledgling, making him an independent neonate. But this didn't mean the end of mentoring David. She continued mentoring him with his paths and other basic needs in his new life like defensive and offensive skills. They, together with the other former Tremere librarians, resided in Montgomery where the new chantry was also set up

1999

Maggie gave an order to David to move to Palomino Creek and find others of their clan and befriend them. Or even those who aren't of clan Tremere. Having no other choice, David moved in Palomino, hoping to make new friends, although he was always welcome to return to the chantry if ever he needed help.

Out of Character:

1.What kind of powers are you allowed to use in public? What stops you from using them?

Blessed with the powers of Auspex, Dominate, and especially Thaumaturgy, no power is supposed to be used in public. Well, except for Auspex, it's a passive discipline, and by "passive" I mean invisible to the human naked eye. Auspex is all about supernatural senses. Dominate is pretty much breaking the masquerade. It's commanding people and removing their will and liberty. It's basically making mortals into servants and puppets. Using Thaumaturgy in public is like shouting to a city of Inquisitors that you're a vampire who does blood magic and they should hunt you just like how they hunted and burned witches before. Thaumaturgy is possibly the most dangerous discipline to use in public. Within the three, the only discipline safe to use in public would be Auspex. Dominate and Thaumaturgy are out of that list. Even if there are no mortals, one could not really be so sure. The first second he can conjure flames out of thin air in an alley where he thinks he's alone, the next second he'd be burning from his own conjured flames.

2.Someone has discovered you. He's planning on making a statement within a week, you have all the time to prepare. What do you do? Consider consequences of every sort of action. Putting down more than one option increases your chances of getting accepted.

Clan members of clan Tremere are possibly the best in covering their tracks. They know history. Why? Because once you've been Embraced as a member of clan Tremere, that means you're an educated student. Members of clan Tremere, which would henceforth be known as Tremeres due to its long name, are known to be really educated, gifted with the intelligence attribute.

Tremeres are given the Dominate discipline which makes it easy for them to cover their tracks. Even the first skill of Dominate can make an eyewitness go bye-bye. Vampires with the Dominate discipline can play with a mortal's mind like dolls in a tea party. It's just too easy for them, especially if that mortal is weak-willed.

And of course, you have Thaumaturgy. Possibly the closest you can relate to witchcraft. With its awesome rituals, a Tremere can threaten, or possibly even curse a mortal with a few key ingredients.

Besides, these Tremeres are very intelligent. They wouldn't just make every secluded place a shooting range. And with their intelligence, if they do get caught, they have a few manipulative tricks they can do. They can convince the witness that if he/she would be on his side, he'd make him the most powerful mortal in the world. Of course, that would be deception, but it's worth a shot. Then there's bribing, threatening, then last of all, actually kill through physical or supernatural means like rituals.

3.An officer walks up to you and tells you to stay put, you are a wanted individual. In the struggle you both shed a good amount of blood, what could possibly happen in this scenario and how further can you avoid these dangerous encounters?

Of course I'm not gonna use my precious disciplines and risk myself getting killed just because of a speeding ticket. Whatever my offence is, I'd gladly take it and spend a few time in jail. I've lived for years, heck, decades. My jail time would just be like one of those boring years. But of course, that doesn't mean I should actually get myself arrested. In prison, it would be hard to get a source of vitae. I'd try my best not to involve myself in criminal doings and go home, study occult books, practice on my Thaumaturgy, and I'll be out of danger's way.

4.You mutter around town and notice a rather viscous looking hairy beast with claws stretching out of his arms. What could it possibly be and what could you possibly do about this?

It may be a wolf, a werewolf or another shapeshifter(includes Gangrels). It is completely harmless when untouched. So, to avoid any danger or possibly violence, it's best to leave it alone. This changes the entire scene if the animal is attacking, in which case, nothing is better than to run, escape and hide, especially if there's a pack of them. But if one has that fighter spirit, he/she would attack back, but if I were to consider every consequence, I'd rather keep myself away from any danger. One thing I learned about werewolves are that they are machines fueled by desire, lust, and rage. And that even the youngest of werewolves can kill a neonate or, if in a pack, an elder or methuselah. So, to avoid Final Death, it's better off to not attack or do anything stupid, cause god knows what will happen.

5.You've been at the game for quite a while now. You are walking down a dark alley with your partner and three thugs come out of the shadowy corner, aiming their mundane weaponry at you. Should you be scared?

Well, I've been at the game for quite a while now so that gives other players a chance to rob me. Having to notice each detail in this scenario, there are three armed enemies in a private place. As a normal person, yes I would be scared and I would do anything to keep my body alive, meaning I would comply with everything they say, even if it means losing my wealth and my stuff. I mean, who ain't scared of three guns pointed at their heads? But if I were a vampire, there's enough to kill for three guys. If I were to have that Brujah spirit in a Tremere body, I would finish each and every one of them through Thaumaturgy alone. But my character ain't one of those. My character shows empathy and a peaceful surroundings, although ironically he seduces people, and suck their blood, but it's for his good. What other choice is there than to suck blood? So, considering the traits of my character, I would comply like a regular guy and be scared. It's for everyone's sake.

6.Considering your bloodline or clan, what sort of job would you be good at? Make a priority job and a side job in case you need one.

Considering what I am and the concept I've planned for this character, I'd do well as a hermit. Of course, go out a little for vitae, but mostly stay indoors, avoid the sun, and study occult. But if I am forced, I can be good with a street magician with Path of Conjuring, making rabbits pop out of a magician's hat and that hat being withdrawn from an empty pocket (folded hat, ofc).

Considered giving the server a chance. Got a few friends lined up to join. They may not be VWH veterans, but they're knowledgable in the WoD lore. Might invite them. That is, if you convince me that the server is redeemable.

then until youíve decided, this is not going to be reviewed as we do not want inactive players taking up new characters, especially something exclusive such as the clan youíre applying for.

you can let the moderation know about your decision by replying here,  once youíve made it.
