Since I was a young child, I have always offered what I had to the more unfortunate that did not, attempting to protect the weak even when the odds seemed against me. After my parent's sudden end, I was left alone, confused and angry at the world. That was until an old officer changed my mind ;
I was having a really bad day and got into a fight, which was ultimately ended by an old officer. Instead of punishing me, shouting at me, imprisoning me, he sat down with me on the sidewalk, talked to me, listened to me with no interruption whatsoever, and his answer to it all? "I understand". That's all it took for my day to get just a little brighter. Since then, I always admired the individuals who protect and serve.
