is it supposed to show abominations in aura perc? I thought they show as normal pale like any vampire

Discern is indeed sight based ability that allows the Hunter(Imbued) to notice the minor details that would pin-point a supernatural's race flat out. Blush of Health and Master of the Masquerade wouldn't really throw off Discern as it may alter the regular cold as ice flaw due to being a vampire to an EXTENT, they still are cold, they're still pale but only an amount less than the vampires who don't possess the blush of health merit. Discern can recognize that no body heat is emitting from the vampire, no breaths being drawn, etc... Hence Discern is unaffected.

Subtracting successes from the Hunter's roll isn't such a big deal and gives the Merits a script purpose.
